There is no shortage of things to do here in San Antonio. You can start by visiting the Alamo which was a mission and fortress during the Texas Revolution. You can get around downtown San Antonio by way of the city's VIA metropolitan transit which operates 30 plus hybrid buses (keeping it green), jump on a trolley tour, The River Taxi (which stops at 39 locations along the River Walk) or the good old fashion way …on foot. You then can take a stroll on the famous River Walk that is open to foot traffic only and home to the city’s night life along with the many open air restaurants and drinkeries.

Festivals and events like Texas are big here. There is the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo (Features great entertainment with star-studded country, rock 'n' roll and Latin artists), Fiesta San Antonio( with over 100 events), Tejano Conjunto sausage)Festival en San Antonio, San Antonio Summer Art & Jazz Festival, Texas Folklife Festival, Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon, Oktobferest and Wurstfest (a unique celebration rich in German culture and full of Texas fun! During this 10-day salute to sausage) just to name a few.

Did someone say sports? We have that here too. SA is home to the world championship San Antonio Spurs (NBA) basketball team. Need more basketball? Head over to the AT&T Center and see the San Antonio Silver Stars (WNBA), Stay cool ice side cheering our Hockey team the San Antonio Rampage (AHL), San Antonio Scorpions soccer team (NASL) along with the San Antonio Missions Baseball team this Alamos City home. San Antonio is big on golf as well, home to the third oldest tournament on the PGA Tour “The Texas Open”.

We’re proud of our large Military presence. Home to the Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA), which is an amalgamation of the Army’s Fort Sam Houston, the Air Force’s Randolph Air Force Base and Lackland Air Force Base. The Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) Along with the VA hospital and services help make San Antonio home too many retired military members.


San Antonio hosts over 100,000 students across its 31 higher-education facilities which include The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, the University of Texas at San Antonio, Texas A&M University–San Antonio, and the Alamo Community College District. Some of the private schools include Baptist University of the Américas, St. Mary's University, Our Lady of the Lake University, University of the Incarnate Word, Trinity University, and Wayland Baptist University. The San Antonio Public Library serves all of these institutions along with the 17 independent school districts (ISD) within San Antonio. The best place to live in Texas is San Antonio.
